Magnesium

Magnesium is involved in more than 300 essential metabolic reactions. Is has an important role in modulating transport functions and receptors, energy metabolism, protein synthesis, as well as protecting biological membranes. It is also involved in the metabolism of glucose and production of cellular energy and is required for the active transport of ions like potassium and calcium across cell membranes. Through its role in ion transport systems, magnesium affects the conduction of nerve impulses, and muscle contraction.
