Wounds

Care of a wound includes the avoidance of infection as well as the promotion of the body's natural healing mechanisms. Once the bleeding has stopped (pressure may need to be applied) the wound should be cleaned with water or saline, before it is dressed or bandaged. Part of wound care also means making sure your tetanus immunisation is up to date. If the wound is deep, won't stop bleeding or is very dirty, if it starts to look infected or if it won't heal, medical attention should be sought.
